Recreation
Blue Hills Civic Association provides positive character development
for Hartford Youth through recreation, education, life skills training
and family activities for approximately 350 North Hartford students in
grades 4 through 12. Approximately 180-youth in grades 4 through 8, participate
in our annual basketball program. The program concludes with a family
outing/picnic and an awards banquet.
What do we have
to offer:
• Sportsmanship - Participants are exposed to
non-traditional activities such as golf, tennis,
boating and horseback riding.
• Responsibility/Discipline - Youth participate in skills
development clinics and play in a total of 100
basketball games for a total of six-weeks.
• College Exposure - Our youth tour the campuses of
UCONN and University of Hartford meeting with
students and school administration to help develop
an understanding of furthering their education.
• Visual Exposure - Youth will experience visual
exposure of the Capitol of Connecticut through
fieldtrips such as Blue Fox Run, Riverfront
Recapture and Ebony Horsewomen Stables.
