Youth
Basketball and Life Skills
Blue Hills Civic Association provides positive character development
for Hartford Youth through recreation, education, life skills training
and family activities for approximately 350 North Hartford students in
grades 4 through 12. Approximately 180-youth in grades 4 through 8, participate
in our annual basketball program. The program concludes with a family
outing/picnic and an awards banquet.
What do we have to offer:
• Sportsmanship - Participants are exposed to
non-traditional activities such as golf, tennis, boating
and horseback riding.
• Responsibility/Discipline - Youth participate in skills
development clinics and play in a total of 100
basketball games for a total of six-weeks.
• College Exposure - Our youth tour the campuses of
UCONN and University of Hartford meeting with
students and school administration to help
develop an understanding of furthering their
education.
• Visual Exposure - Youth will experience visual
exposure of the Capitol of Connecticut through
fieldtrips such as Blue Fox Run, Riverfront Recapture
and Ebony Horsewomen Stables.
